Hi Cara Southgate from Dorset HealthCare
Good Morning All !!
Hi everyone my name is janet thompson and I am from Gateshead Health
Hi its Lindsay Mutyavaviri from Leeds Teaching Hospitals
Hi everyone, looking forward to the session today
hello : ) Bev.firstname.lastname@example.org looking forward to hearing from you
Are we supposed to be able to see the slides?
You should be able to see the slides, if you are on a small screen (Phone tablet etc) then you are likely to have to select between views to see slides or cameras etc
I just have a black page
Is there an option to select different views?
@diane last the black screen is your video camera screen I think as you are not transmitting video
Diane, if you type in your email addres I will email you the slides so you can follow along
Diane, I sent you the slides
Hilary Garratt (2)

Hi @janetThompson - the hashtags are #FutureNursing and #FutureMidwifery - look forward to seeing your tweets :)
Really brilliant to hear from Ambassadors - the level of enthusiasm, commitment and drive is awesome!
working with our universities - show joined up approach
Breakout Room 6: Attendance at RCN Congress essential to progress initiative
Celebrating diverse nursing roles not all at the bedside
we go anywhere and do anything the possibilities are endless with joy and passion
I want to continue on the work from the forum and support improving the immage of nursing and aim for others to see the value of nursing as I do.
@bev so important opportunity to be an ambassador , together we can make a difference
Sharing the diversity of roles in nursing and midwifery
Adapting to suit the age of the audience
many pathways of a nursing career, something for all
Really proud and priviledge to be a part of this programme.
Hilary Garratt (2)
promoting perceptions being integral to our role no matter what grade or where we work
I mentioned that as part of my role at University I look forward to affecting the perceptions of nursing in the secondary education settings. Motivating our existing students to go back to theis schools and colleges and talk about the nursing profession
No matter how hard the days get never forget the reason why you became a nurse
I want younger people to enjoy the wonderful career of Nursing that I have had the priviledge of being part of for the last 30 years
being an ambassador mean I can disseminate the exciting work that is going on to ensure nurses are proud and empowered
Engaging students in measures to continue the advancement of perceptions of nurses & midwives - their stories are as powerful as those of experiences nurses & more likely to resonate with future nurses
being a role model is important. we need to enable professionalism in all nurses. Being an ambassador should include recruitment and retention of the nursing workforce
Is Sandra corry here? If so can you let me know your screen name please so I can unmute you to speak to Bev?
Hi its @janiemthomp Being an ambassador is so important to me as I'm so proud to be a nurse in the NHS. I think the ambassador programme is so forward thinking with being able to connect like this
we need to engage nurses from all fields. do we have any Learning disability nurses here?
Yup I am an RN(LD)
@sheila are you too?
There is a perception in schools that being a nurse is a lesser status, less academic career route than other clinical professions. yet when we listen to the nurses on this call, we can see what outstanding career routes nursing and midwifery are and the sheer breadth of the oportunities
brilliant so good to hear. Often a forgotten field and very difficult to recruit to as most children do not know of this field. No I am a children’s nurse. Sheila McQueen I m currently a Prof of Nursing and CPD in Sunderland University
Listening to the ambassador stories shows how proud we all are of our profession and sharing collective ideas however small - will make such a big difference.

@ Annama , loved your line “ let’s bring the joy back into nursing “
Well done Annama
@helen, perhaps changing the name of the degree to nursing science would help, although it may put some people off
@ Hilary Thank you
Celebrating the unique way nurses and midwives bring value to people lives is someting to take forward for me. Fantastic course.
The NMC are about to release the new standards of proficiency for nurses, we should really link with that to promote MODERN nursing?
important for Nursing & Midwifery to be part of STEM career programs at schools / colleges - recognise the application of science and espouse the academic/ intellectual aspects of nursing. As well as the most important part of being with people
Cara Southgate and Louise Sawford happy to help in anyway. We are from Dorset HealthCare
happy to help with either, love the handbook idea what a great concept!
linking local teams and trusts would be fantastic... would love to help with the Toolkit
Happy to help with any!
we have much to learn from each other, and especially thinking about learning from Soctland's Nurse Vision 2030
I really liked the top 10TIPS for social media sucess that Helen shared on twitter recently. It is about sustainability, innovation,
I am also happy to help with the toolkit.
I would be happy to help with any of this work. The toolkit sounds great. Really positive approach.
Caroline Llewellyn (CarolineE.Llewellyn@ssotp.nhs.uk) happy to support on any of the programme aspects.
Very happy to assist with the development of materials to assist with the heatlh ambassador role
we have started to link in ‘the north east’ to work together so we can certainly do something for the north east to feed into the toolkit/hakathon.
Would like to be involved in any part of this - need to get more traction for this in the midlands
jcram are you here?
Can we take the copy of the problem questions and ask our collegues for opinions? I would love to put them forward to our students and get their suggestions
Hi Sheila, i am on. I will drop you an e-mail after the event.
@Jarek, that is a really good idea
we have a nurse event on the 10th of May could we use the questions and feed in on 14th?
@sheila @Jcram we'll (northumbria) join in a north east collaboration - drop me a line.
